Mason bees are very good pollinators for flowers and fruit trees. They visit as many as 1000 blooms per day. They are solitary insects and do not use hives like honeybees, but 'nest' on their own by placing their eggs in holes and tubes.
Instructions:
Place bee house in a sunny, sheltered location with minimal wind and exposure to the elements, ideally facing south/southeast. Fix to a flat surface (eg wall or fence etc) using the hanger provided. Ensure that it is 5-6 feet off the ground to keep away ants and other bugs which are harmful to mason bees. Check regularly for signs of activity or pests. Clean out old nesting materials or replace the box after the eggs have hatched and the bees have left the box during the following spring.
